Web Filtering :: Internet Content Filter The Hacking of Google by alleged Chinese government hackers (Jan. 2010) has brought to mainstream media the fact that the Internet is very insecure. In this case, like in many others, IE exploits were used to infect machines which in turn provided backdoor access to the intruders via the Internet. This is a common technique used to hack: Trick a user into clicking on a link and visiting a Web page that has specially crafted code that exploits a known vulnerability. These links can come in the forms of E-mails, E-vites, E-cards, attachments, search engines and links from other Web sites. A Web Filter, also known as a URL filter or Internet content filter is one of the best lines of defenses against these types of malicious attacks. Many of the sites that craft code so as
to exploit weaknesses in browsers are often blacklisted by content
filters! In addition, popular sites, such as pornography, gambling,
downloads and others are often used by hackers to infect computers
can be easily blocked.
These sites are the types of sites that are likely to get you
infected and/or hacked! |
