Wireless Security :: Secure Wireless Network

A wireless network is NOT inherently secure. There are many
easily available tutorials and software programs that allow even
novice computer hackers to crack wireless WEP and WPA encryption
codes.

Businesses that benefit from wireless technology need to implement strong, multi-layered wireless network security. Not doing so can give intruders entry level access into the network where they can sniff out clear text passwords or  use Man In The Middle style attacks to steal encrypted passwords, data and gain elevated access.

Standard WEP and WPA encryption algorithms can be cracked. To better secure a wireless network you need a multilayered approach. In addition to encryption security, a wireless network can be secured using IDS, network segmentation, MAC address filtering and RADIUS. This multi-layered security approach provides added levels of wireless network security.
