SharePoint is a database to Web application that stores information and presents it to the viewer via a friendly, easy to navigate, searchable web site.

Share Point sites can be used internally or externally and can be open to everybody or secured by user name and password.

SharePoint can also be a great Web authoring tools. Most Web sites are static. They are set up by a designer and they seldom change. Others change constantly. Changing sites are called Dynamic Web  sites. News sites, blogs and social networking sites are examples of dynamic web sites.
